This Specialization is intended for aspiring surface pattern designers seeking to develop a cohesive creative process. Through three courses, you will cover key principles of pattern design, analog repeat techniques, and how to create and present a full pattern collection. These skills will prepare you to produce industry-ready work and pitch to clients confidently.
Applied Learning Project
Learners will apply key design principles, analog and digital techniques, and storytelling skills to create a polished surface pattern collection. Projects include developing a cohesive, professional pattern using Procreate and Photoshop; creating seamless repeat patterns by hand using traditional media; and following along as an instructor designs a full 8-piece pattern collection—sharing real-time decisions, struggles, and reflections. By completing these projects, learners will gain both technical expertise and creative confidence to build a compelling portfolio and present work to potential clients.
